Engineering Maths Qualifying Examination (EMQE) for Admission in Academic Year 2025/26

The Engineering Mathematics Qualifying Exam (EMQE) is an alternative route for prospective students to meet the minimum Mathematics requirements for undertaking an Engineering degree course. It gives Leaving Certificate students a second chance to pursue an Engineering or Computer Science programme in the College of Science & Engineering, University of Galway.

The examination will take place after Leaving Certificate results are issued and prior to second round CAO results.

Those electing to take the exam are offered a place on the preparatory course  which takes place the week before the exam. The EMQE is available to students who are applying through CAO, on completion of the Leaving Certificate, and EU students who do not meet the minimum of a H4 in Maths in their Leaving Certificate/final EU school exams. The EMQE is not available to Non-EU/International Applicants.
