- Brian O'Sullivan (PhD with Cathal) has had a paper accepted for publication in Nucleic Acids Research Cancer
- Cathal gave a presentation (in Irish) at Electric Picnic on research carried out together with Siobhán Cleary and Noor Kherreh
- The CRT, together with the African Society of Human Genetics, published a description of a joint training initiative in the journal Trends in Genetics (with Cathal and Sandra as co-authors)
- Noor Kherreh submitted her PhD thesis for examination; Declan and Siobhán have both submitted the final hardbound copies of their theses to the library (all with Cathal).
- Harrison Anthony (PhD with Cathal) has begun a three-month placement at The National Cancer Centre in Tokyo, Japan.
- Sophie Matthews (PhD with Cathal) has begun a three-month placement at Northern Arizona University, USA.
- Cathal and Patrick Staunton (postdoctoral fellow) are collaborators on Biotope2, an SDG Challenge 2021 programme project, which was runner-up for the SFI Future Innovator Prize. Total value: €700,000, of which approximately half goes to Malawi and €100,000 will come to Galway. The award has now been officially announced.
- Simone Coughlan is now an Adjunct Lecturer in Bioinformatics.
- Jim published a preprint with Bryan Chen and Derek Kitson. “Block-and-hole graphs: Constructibility and (3,0)-sparsity” is available at https://arxiv.org/abs/2309.06804
- Mark Ryder (PhD with Mark) attended the 18th Central European Quantum Information Processing Workshop in Smolenice, Slovakia.
- Omid Khazaei joined Andrew's group as a postdoc working on joint modelling of longitudinal and time-to-event data applied to the WEAN SAFE study.
- Andrew gave a talk to the University Maths Society on "Making sense of sensor data".
- John Andrew (PhD student with Andrew) delivered a poster presentation on "Longitudinal functional data analysis" at the International Society for Clinical Biostatistics conference in Milan, Italy.
- Andrew took part in a panel discussion on "Data for Health and Wellbeing" at the Semantic Picnic to celebrate the 20 years of DERI – Digital Enterprise Research Institute and the ten years of Insight – SFI Research Centre for Data Analysis.
- Harold will start employment as a postdoctoral researcher for Stephan’s ERC project in October.
- Sairam (PhD with Michel and Valentina) gave a talk about his work at the XVII International Conference on Computational Plasticity COMPLAS 2023 Conference, in Barcelona, Spain.
- Sairam (PhD with Michel and Valentina) took part in the 175th European Study Group with Industry Berlin, Germany. He is now on Secondment at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid Spain.
- Michel applied for an EPSRC-SFI joint project with colleagues at the University of Glasgow.
- Angela's (joint) proposal for a two-week research programme on "Combinatorial Methods in Enumerative Algebra" at the ICTS Bangalore was successful. The programme will take place in December 2024. Josh, Tobias and Angela will give research-level courses there.
