Vincent Canning
Tech Lead/Manager (TLM)/Senior Software Engineer, Google
Canning is a software engineer and technical leader with over 25 years of industry experience, mainly in travel, enterprise collaboration and cloud development.
He helped design some of the first online travel booking platforms, focusing on the scaling of internet access to legacy backends. He later worked on enterprise communication leading delivery of mechanisms to enable rapid cross platform development, and their transition from on-prem to cloud based solutions. Always involved with education, Vincent has been a liaison with TU Dublin School of Computer Science for multiple companies helping sponsor student projects and graduate recruitment, and was previously an external examiner for TU Dublin’s computer science degree course. He was also heavily involved in the six year campaign that established Galway's first Educate Together secondary school. Vincent is currently leading the site reliability engineering team for backup and disaster recovery at Google Cloud.
