Dr Xuliang Qian

Dr. Xuliang Qian is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Galway. He received his bachelor’s degree in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), and earned both his master’s and Ph.D. degrees in Solid Mechanics from Brown University, USA. 

Dr. Qian’s research bridges computational mechanics, bio-nano mechanics, and sustainable nano-manufacturing to translate fundamental scientific insights with real-world biomedical innovations. His work focuses on two key themes: 

1. Interfacial Phenomena in Bio-Nano Systems: Investigating mechanisms driving self-assembly, shape morphing, molecular transport, and dynamic adsorption/desorption processes at biological interfaces. 

1. Biomimetic Materials and Methods: Designing nature-inspired materials and fabrication techniques for advanced medical devices and therapeutic technologies. 

He has published in several high-impact journals, including Nature Nanotechnology, Nature Communications, Advanced Materials, and Small.
